2007 - Customize Button Image

In Excel 2003 (and prior) it was possible to edit the image assigned to a
button on a custom toolbar

right click on button, select Customize
right click again on button (without exiting Customize dialog), select Edit
Button Image ...

I do not know how many others were using this capability in earlier versions
of Excel, but I found it very useful as I have defined many
frequently-accessed macros that I launch from toolbars, and I need the button
images to be (a) different, (b) meaningful.

In the 2007 version, this no longer appears to be available . . . or has
someone found a way to do this?

If I go to Excel Options > Customize, add a macros as a command, and then
click on Modify, a Modify Button dialog opens with several (bad) choices. No
Edit Button option, though. Maybe someone knows how to edit the images in
the Modify Button dialog box?

(This is pretty obscure, but I bet someone knows how to replicate this 2003
feature in 2007!)

Hi,
I am interested in this one too. This was one reason why I downdated to
excel 2003.
I don't know, it appears no one else does either.

Looks like you and I are the only ones who care . . . ! There really ought
to be a way. I am sure the icon file *must* be somewhere and if we could get
to that and find a way of editing the icons within it . . .

Unfortunately (corporate policy) I am unable to "downdate". I am curious to
see if some of the add-ons that recreate 2003's menus within 2007 would work,
but I doubt it given the somewhat convoluted nature of how one needed to do
this is the first place.
