2003 Office Word problem

Help! I seem to have lost my complete 2003 version of word and now have an
incomplete version that won't let me copy or paste, etc. How do I get the
complete version (back).

It seems to me, you first need to select something before choosing
copy.
And first copy something before pasting it in MS Word.

First start a new document!
Having no document opened, you will hardly have any menu working.
Everything is disabled indeed.
