2000 Haning after logon.

Here is the issue.
2k pro box only 1 user account "Administrator" with no pass

The user logs on and it just hangs and does not continue

I can do a CTL.ALT.DEL and it shows no applications running and the
system idle process is 98% boucing betweent the 2% for task manager.

The user has already rebooted the system and logged on and froze
several times and that has shot the Idea of the last knowen good idea.

My Ideas are
1: run system repair and check the start up
2: run the repair command prompt to look at check disk and the
partition.

Please Help.

Not saying this is it, and understand that tskmgr doesn't show things
sucking up resoruces, but a fairly common cause of hangs/slow logons eithe
just before c-a-d or right after it, are services having problems. If you
can boot up is safe mode and it's quick, that is probably the cause, and
then it's a matter of either disabling services etc until you find the one
that's slowing it down, or disable everything it doesn't have to have to
boot, and then start adding them back in until it starts hanging again.
note: I would recommend you create another admin account for that box as
backup, and would probably use that one for day to day use.
