2 Windows XP versions to choose from during start-up

I recently re-loaded windows (XP Home - Gateway Source Disk), without
formatting the hard drive. After the installation, I migrated all of the
files I needed over to the "new" version of XP home. I think the original
version I had was XP Pro, but I couldn't find the disk for the re-load. Each
time I restart the computer, it asks me to choose from one of two Windows
versions during the startup screen. In addition I have a C:\Windows AND a
C:\WINNT folder on my drive. It would seem I have an extra version installed
but I don't know how to properly remove the unneeded one to free up disk
space. Help.... please?!

Additional info:

Both of the versions are labeled Windows XP Home Edition and the second one
on the list gives a "blue screen of death" if selected.

The C:\Windows directory has the most recent date for the folder/flie
creations.

I couldn't find a boot.ini file to "remove" a version from the startup
screen as explained in a previous post.
