2 PCs 1 broadband connection

I have a PC connected to broadband by cable from ethernet to modem. I would
like a second PC to have access to this broadband connection. Can I do this
by installing a network card in both computers and joining via a crossover
cable. I presume this would mean that the 1st PC has 2 network cards.
Thanks for any advice.

Yes you can do that using Windows Internet Connection Sharing. See Windows
Help if you have windows.

A better way is to get a router to attach to the cable modem then attach
both computers to the router. A router will cost you not much more than a
NIC and the crossover cable needed to use ICS.
