2 Part Question about Vista back to XP

C

Cactus John

I bought a laptop with XP on it because i heard that Vista had issues, about
6 months ago i used my Upgrade CD to try out Vista, the check told me
everything would be fine and so forth and so on, then i actually get into
Vista and find that i am crashing to the Blue screen about 2-3 times a week
because of a graphics card driver not correct. I have a laptop so i am
Running an ATI Radeon 1150 (i believe) but Vista calls it a Radeon Xpress
200M Series(THIS IS WRONG!!) I went to Dell and go the driver for Vista for
the Ati 1150 and Everything was fine.... Until i tried to play a game ...
heck any game!?! The games can not run because the Ati 1150 is not
up-to-date, yet when i use the update drive it install the crappy Microsoft
driver and it Crashes Vista every day (or 2). I went to ATI and they dont
have anything on the Radeon 1150 or really anything for Vista compatable
laptops.

#1 Anyone know of anything to help this?

#2 I have my XP Pro Cds and I am temped to Re-install XP because i had NO
issues with it: will install XP over Vista cause any issues?!? or would it
be a clean install and would i keep all my files?

I recommend you contact Dell Support about the compatibility issues your
experiencing wither you systems graphics and games under Windows Vista.

As for reinstalling XP, it will be a clean install only.

You have to do a clean install, as going to XP is considered a backwards step
by vista.

Back up all your Data, as everything will be lost.
Set the Bios to boot from CD/DVD Drive, have XP disk in it, and follow
instructions on XP disk to delete existing partition of Vista, formatt the
drive, install XP
