Hello

we have 1 windows 2k server with AD. It has 2 network
cards in. one connected to our internal network on a
10.1.120.0 and the other is connected to our adsl router
for internet access. The external card has a public IP of
217.xx.xx.25 and our adsl router as its gateway
217.xx.xx.26. Now a cisco router has been installed on
our internal network to connect us to another companys
internal network so the internal card also now needs to
have a default gateway of the cisco router.

Can 2 cards on the same server have gefault gateways. The
reason i ask is yesterday i couldnt ping our adsl router
from the server even though they both have addresses on
the same subnet got destination host unreachable. I had
to uninstall the card and reinstall it before it would
work again.

Thanks

Nick

No, only one network interface should have a default gateway. if all of the
clients use the ADSL to get to the Internet then I would leave the default
gateway on the interface connected to the Cisco router and put a default
route on the Cisco router to send Internet traffic to the ADSL router.
