2 network cards same ip address

We have a win2k SBS and network traffic to and from the
server is bogged down. so i placed a 2nd network card in
the server which took care of the traffic problem however
it has given me more problems. I need to know if there
is a way to bind the 2 network cards together so they
have the same ip address?

No Jerome, you can't give the same IP to two different nics. Go to
www.smallbizserver.net and check your setup. It is recommended to have 1 nic
for your LAN and 1 nic to your external connection. How are you connecting
to the internet?
Do you have DHCP and DNS-server setup?

The server is running DNS and i have a seperate DHCP
server (netgear router). I just have been having
multipal network errors and speed issues.

Jerome, Let your server do all the serving and turn off the DHCP on the
router.
Can you post the ipconfig/all from the server please?

As was stated, you cannot have 2 NIC cards with the same
IP as they will actually get down to the MAC address as
well and not work through. Usually there are load
balancing setups out there that show a single assigned IP
for a server but really has 2 cards sitting behind it with
different IP's. The software then does the load
balancing. Clustering allows you to set 2 machines under
1 IP and have several NICs for traffic but this is more
than you want to mess with!
