1st ATI card - any tips?

All,

Just bought the Sapphire 9600 Pro. OK so its not the most powerful card but
I'm on a budget. Looking forward to a little better performance than the
GF3 Ti200 its replacing.

Two questions - best way to install to avoid conflicts etc? Do I need to
hunt down and destroy all references to NVidia drivers and whats the best
way of doing that? Secondly if I have set everything up correctly what kind
of performance can I expect with my specs below and how best to measure it?

AMD XP 2100+
Asus A7V8X
512MB memory
Windows XP Pro

Many thanks, Shawk

the previous post mentions detonator destroyer which is a good suggestion
for cleaning out the nvidia drivers. You may want to re-install some of your
games afterwards as well.

As far as performance goes, I'm running a 9500 Pro with a 2000+ and get
(with "balanced" driver settings) around 10600 in 3dmark 2001, and 3650 or
so in 3dmark 2003 - I would expect you should get around the same scores.
