1card=OK, 2=no internet

Hello,
I have a broadband connection(dhcp), my wireless gateway/router(linksys) is
connected on that connection. My XPpc is connected through WLAN in fixedIP
mode (for lots of reasons). My XPpc has a LAN connection. I want to connect
a second XP machine on my XPpc through a wire. But when I enable the
networkcard, I cant get to Internet no more. I can reach the router, but it
doesn't go through to the Internet. I tried to set up a different LAN with
the 2 pc's, then the LAN with the pc and the router, I tried to connect them
all to the same IP range, ... still no internet...

internet----[router] ' ' ' (wlan) ' ' '
[PC1]----(wired)----[PC2]

Without the lancard on PC1 enabled the wireless connection is superb!
Can't find a way to get a byte from the internet to PC2. (and I don't have a
second wireless adapter...)

Thanx in advance, enjoy the bitstream...

Sound like routing issue. I am assuming you setup both NICs as default gateway so that the traffic go to the LAN instead of the Internet. Posting the results of the ipconfig /all may confirm it.

Apparently I can exchange files through the LAN, but the second PC still
can't get to Internet. I have shared my internet connection, but it doesn't
come through. How do I have to configure the lan card in PC2?

Thank you very much!

If I understand the data that you gave, the first PC has a wireless
Internet connection that it shares with the second PC over a wired LAN
connection. If so, make these settings on the second PC:

IP Address: 192.168.0.x (1<x<255)
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway: 192.168.0.1
DNS Server = 192.168.0.1 or your ISP's DNS server

Then, run these tests on the second PC to see if it's working and/or
isolate the problem:

1. Open a command prompt window and enter these lines. Each one
should get four replies:

ping 192.168.0.1
ping 216.239.39.99
ping google.com

2. If #1-#3 are right, enter these addresses in Internet Explorer.
They should both take you to the Google web page:
