Greetings --

The "180 Search Assistant" is a component of n-Case.

n-Case is a form of spyware. Two products that are normally
quite effective at finding and removing such scumware are Ad-Aware
from www.lavasoft.de and SpyBot Search and Destroy from
www.safer-networking.org/. Both have free versions.

Symantec provides removal instructions:
http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/adware.ncase.html

Additional manual removal instructions for the most common
varieties of scumware are available here:

Same problem here. All of the normal suggestions have been
tried... Spybot, Ad Aware, registry edits (I can't find the
line referred to in instructions), etc. Nothing gets rid
of the stupid alert... which I receive in 3 seperate
windows about 5 minutes after boot-up.

Is there ANYONE out there that has beaten this menace
recently... because I have gotten everything pretty well
cleaned up but this PIA.

PS... the best anti-spyware hint I've found to date is to
stop using IE and to start using Firefox, which is
available for free (and no spyware attached - yay!) at
Mozilla.org. What a difference a browser makes!! Sorry
Microsoft. But those Active X controls have got to go (I
understand they're a big part of the problem).
