16 Bit Windows Subsystem

Robert R.

I was looking through a spindle of old CDs I had, when I
found several old, but really good, games I want to
install. Well, I run the installation and it gives me
this exact error:

16 Bit Windows Subsystem

G:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\AUTOEXEC.NT. The system file is not
suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows
applications. Choose 'Close' to terminate the application.

and below are two boxes:

'Close' and 'Ignore'

Choosing close terminates the installation, but choosing
ignore simply leaves the installation idle, upon which
after a few moments it is automatically closed.

I know for a fact that the games work for Windows XP,
because I have installed them on a previous hard drive
with Windows XP Professional on it. The only thing I
changed is that I updated my current 1installation of XP
(while the installation that the games worked with was
not updated), and I apparently installed SP2. Thank you,
and if you need any more information, I will provide it.

You can resolve the error by copying that file from:
C:\WINDOWS\repair to C:\WINDOWS\System32.
