16 bit Windows Subsystem... XP...trouble

Roger

Hello someone smarter than me,
The last couple of apps/programs I tried to use on XP
service pk 2, have come up with this message?

16 bit Windows Subsystem

C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\AUTOEXEC.NT. The system is not
suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows
applications. Choose 'Close' to terminate the application.

Close Ignore
please help. Roger

Something has added a line to it which should not be there.

Edit it with NotePad. It should contain - apart from many comment lines
starting REM - just

REM Install CD ROM extensions
lh %SystemRoot%\system32\mscdexnt.exe

REM Install network redirector (load before dosx.exe)
lh %SystemRoot%\system32\redir

REM Install DPMI support
lh %SystemRoot%\system32\dosx

And possible SET or PATH lines:

Remove anything else by turning it into a comment, adding REM and a
space as shown in the above. And please note what they were and report
back - this is happening a lot and I would like to find out *what* has
got added.

Please provide feedback if you can. It would be greatly appreciated and
will help others.
