Hi,
Been having a problem on start up of my Windows Xp system. Get a box coming
up on boot up saying on the top..... "16 bit Windows subsystem". Then the
rest of the info goes along the line of..... C:\Windows\system32\autoex NT
system file not suitable to run MS-DOS and Windows Application......... Then
the choice to click on "ignore" and.....

All this seemed to started up after installing PhotoShop Elements 3 - then
maybe not. And like I said, I am not trying to start or run an older
program, but this window pops up on boot up. I do have Windows XP service 2
pack installed - months ago. Ohhh... and my system does seems to be slower
than "molasses in January" or is that December. And is the Task Manager - my
CPU usage is 100 %

Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thank you....

Some *.com file is trying to load at boot and there is something wrong with
your autoexec.nt file.

Update your antivirus and anti-spyware applications and run full system
scans.

I assume that PhotoShop Elements 3 is not a 16 bit application.

When you get rid of the trojans/viruses/worms...

Copy the autoexec.nt file from C:\Windows\Repair to C:\Windows\System32
And set Attributes for autoexec.nt to Read-only.

Or %systemroot%\Repair to %systemroot%\System32

Read-only
[[Specifies whether this file is read-only, which means that it cannot be
changed or accidentally deleted.]]

1. Right click the file.
2. Properties.
3. Select: Read-only.
4. Click: Apply.
5. Click: OK.

Hope this helps. Let us know.
