14% scanning on a Canon, then it stops

A friend of mine has a Canon B1250U2 flatbed scanner connected ot a desktop
systme running Windows ME.
She has a problem whereby the scanning usually stops at 14% then refuses to
go any further.
I haven't been round to look at her computer personally due to the distance
between us, by she says she's had some knowledable friends round who've
tried everything from updating the driver to temorarily disabling the
anti-virus.
She's pretty convinced she doesn't have a virus. Does anyone have any other
ideas?

Thanks

Check how much Hard drive space is free on her computer. It takes a minimum
of around 25-30 Megabytes of free space on the hard drive to scan an A4 or
letter size document at 300 DPI. If you scan at 1200 DPI it takes around 400
MB of file and temporary space for at total of 800 MB free on the hard
drive.

Windows uses two main areas of temporary storage, the Virtual Memory and
just plain C:\Windows\Temp.

If there in not enough hard drive space, you can free some space by doing a
"Disk Cleanup" Double click My computer, Right click drive C:, properties,
General tab. click button "Disk cleanup".

The Ram installed should be a minimum of 64 Megabytes, with 256 MB for easy
scanning.

Thanks for your help, I'll mentioned it to her tomorrow to see what happens.

Paul: As an aside - ME is considered worse than 98SE, and is very inferior
to XP Pro.
