I have an external tape drive that connects via the
Firewire port thru winxp sp1.
For some reason MS insits on assigning 1394 net adapter
to it. As soom as I uninstall it it automatically
reinstalls on the next boot.
I DONT want this facility it interferes with the tape
drive, the backup software simply doens't see it at all.
disabling the device doesn't help. As soon as it's
uninstalled the software will see it and needs a reboot
in order to intintialze properly but then the net
adapter resintalls itself and gets in the way something
like "scissors cut paper " dilemma.
I've found nothing about this on technet nor any of the
newsgroups on the Net I've searched so far.
Please could somebody point me in the irght direction.
