1394 Drive Disappears From My Computer

My USB Maxtor Hard Drive disappears. Microsoft recommends in Article ID :
885464 Last Review : October 5, 2005 Revision : 1.2 downloading a hotfix but
does not provide a link or instructions on where to get it other than call
Microsoft. This is the only info provided.

RESOLUTION
[[A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only
intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Only
apply it to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix
may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected

I've been there but can't find the driver or the hotfix. Do you know where I
can locate the hotfix?

Calling MS will result in a $35 charge. Where can I find this hotfix and
avoid charges?
