I have a Maxtor 250GB HD, and compatible BIOS. When in Windows XP Pro I can
access all of this space. However, the Recovery Console and DiskPart see
only the first 137GB. Due to this I have limited my Windows usage to that
137GB, but would like to know how to persuade RC of the true size. There
don't seem to be any special low-level drivers accompanying the GigaByte
MotherBoard, apart from special RAID and SATA drivers, which I don't regard
as applicable.
Any help much appreciated
BTW: Has anyone else noticed that, when setting up a blank hard disk for
installation of XP Pro, Setup recognizes the true size of a large HD but,
on electing to create a new partition, the very next screen shows only
137GB? Great programming consistency Microsoft
