When I try and change the axis name in Lotus 123 9.8
installed on XP Pro I get an exception error. It asks me
to send the error details. Any idea where this go's and
how I can see what the outcome is?

Why post this to a *Windows XP* newsgroup? try the Lotus forums at IBM.
 
The guy is asking where the error reports go.. remember the box that asks if
you would like to send an error report to MICROSOFT?..
