Hi

About two weeks ago a new directory appeared in Windows Explorer and
anything that read the directories.

It is entitled "112".

It consists of shortcuts to all my "My Documents" files - or something
very close to it.

Each time I delete the directory, it recreates itself on rebooting or
after several hours of use of the PC.

Any ideas?

I use MS Spyware Beta and it usually detect a "Browser Hijacker" once
per day and erases it but I dunno if the two things are connected or
whether I am making an assumption.

Has anyone else ever met this odd self-recreating "112 directory"
problem?

If so, what is it?

Most importantly is it a result of a Trojan or similar and is it going
to do any damage?

Even more important, how do I kill it?

Any advice appreciated

Regards

David

I suggest you do a Google search, download and run Adaware SE, CWShredder,
SpywareBlaster and get a good anti-virus installed. There are loads of free
ones out there...plus a good firewall would help.
Another tool which you can use for a fully-functional 30 day free trial is
TrojanRemover.

Hi
I am running AdAware SE, RegCleaner, PestPatrol, ZoneAlarm Security
Suite and MSAntiSpyware Beta 1

I don't know what this '112' is or how it crept in.

I might try CWShredder and SpywareBlaster but I really would like to
know why something has done this really odd thing.

Hi

Still no joy with the "112" Directory problem.
(I now think that it is a 'Shell' folder created by the MS AntiSpyware
(Beta 1) program and may do no harm.)

However SPYSUBTRACT PRO did a fantastic job of removing a Browser
Helper which had been present for 3 weeks and which had persistently
defied all my extensive other removal programs.

Thanks to those who offered advice.
