Outlook 2002/XP: Displaying Single Incoming Messages up to FIVE times! Why?

D

David Probett

Hi

A problem is developing in my hitherto flawless(?) copy of Outlook
XP/2002.

Single e-mail messages arrive at my ISP) and are read in Mailwasher
Pro.

Only one message appears there.

When I view them in Outlook, there are up to FIVE identical copies of
each messages.

(If I look at the messages in Forte's Agent, once again it says there
are only;single messages.)

Does anyone have any ideas as to which tweak I need to do to fix
Outlook?

Many Thanks.

How many accounts do you have defined in Outlook? Do you scan incoming mail
with an AV scanner? Is your send/receive interval long enough? Do you keep
copies of downloaded messages on the server?

Hi

Have you set up rules to sort the mail into different folders. If you
have, you need to put a tick in the 'Stop processing more rules' box
for each rule. Failing that, delete all the accounts and re-create
them. This will illeviate the issue whereby accounts that are active
can be invisible, thus having more accounts (duplicate) than you are
aware of.

Hi

Thank you very much for the reply - it pointed me in what appears to
be the right direction.

I couldn't make the first suggestion work properly so I deleted ALL my
sorting filters and am currently creating new ones as relevant
messages arrive.

Outlook seems to be displaying only one of each message at the moment.

I really did not want to delete and recreate all four e-mail accounts
as only one ISP was affected.

Many thanks, once again.

Have a good Christmas.

David
