SYMPTOM:
Windows 2000 takes 10+ minutes to boot up after logging in.
When loaded, the CPU is maxed out at 100% and all
applications and functions take forever to load, basically
useless to work with.

TROUBLESHOOTING:
Ran in safe mode and everything runs fine.
Memory is adequate and operational.
Uninstalled all unnecessary applications - no change.

Just wondering if its:

A. a virus
B. an program
C. corrupted file in Windows

All suggestions are appreciated.

Regards,
Max

Please go to McAfee (http://www.mcafee.com/myapps/mfs/default.asp) and/or Trend
(http://housecall.antivirus.com ) and perform and online scan of your platform and report
back your results.

Based upon the results, we can go on from there.

If you look at task manager under the thread list what does it show is
using your processor. I would start there.
