1 user name freezes upon opening

The first user name on our windows XP is sluggish in
opening and becomes frozen after a few directions,
especially when aol in being used.
How can this problem be corrected? Is this is virus?
 
Copy all the users files and delete that user. Create a new one with the
user name you desire & copy back the files you put in a safe place.
