Hi

I posted a question a while back about my server, it is a
single server domain. Our server has 2 NIC's in it. One
for external access which has a public ip address and the
default gateway of our BT adsl router. Our internal card
used to just have an IP 10.1.120.1 with no gateway as we
ony had one lan. Now our parent company have put a leased
line in and cisco router (IP 10.1.120.254) to connect us
to our main office. They insist we put the default
gateway of the router on our servers internal NIC. Now
this will mean both the internal and external card have
default gateways and im sure this is causing us not to be
able to get onto the internet. My external card has to
have the gateway of the adsl router in order to get out
onto internet.

Is it possible to have an external and internal card both
with default gateways on them.

Thanks

No two network interfaces with default gateways will NOT work. Only one
network interface should have a default gateway. If all of the
clients use the ADSL to get to the Internet then I would leave the default
gateway on the interface connected to the Cisco router and put a default
route on the Cisco router to send Internet traffic to the ADSL router.
