"1 new mail message" notification at personal settings prompt

There are 5 users on our computer and we each have our
own settings/desktop. When I log off and the screen shows
the 5 users names (to load personal settings), there's a
message under my name saying that I have "1 new mail
message" in my hotmail account, even though I have no new
messages! Any ideas why this is happening? I've tried
deleting all mail in that account (I don't use it very
much, so there were only a few messages), but the
notification still appears when I log out and remains
there until I log back in and my desktop comes up.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Katie,

Use TweakUI/Logon/Unread Mail and Repair/Unread Mail Count

Disable Unread Mail on the Welcome Screen (Line 100)

To remove an account or to change the count manually Go to:
Start/Run/Regedit and navigate to this key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\UnreadMail\[Your
E-Mail Address]. In the right pane modify: Message Count, Change it to 0.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\UnreadMail. In
the right pane modify: MessageExpiryDays Change it to 0.

Hi Kelly...Thanks for the info...just a quick question from a not-totally-literate, newbie XP user...can I just download and open the "Disable Unread Mail on the Welcome Screen (Line 100)" file? I've downloaded it, but do I have to first download the other link, Tweak UI? Thanks in advance,
Katie
