0x800706F7 The Stub Received Bad Data

Hi,
While I am trying to schedule a new task for my Windows XP Pro SP1, I hit
with the above problem and is not able to input the user name and password to
run the task.

What I found on this error

Error number:

0x800706F7.

Copy/paste the following line into an IE Addressbar, click on GO, then
copy/paste the results into your reply:

javascript:navigator.appMinorVersion

Also state your Windows version.

Click Start > Run > [type in] net.exe stop wuauserv [as you see it, w/the
space] > OK

Repeat, in turn, for the following commands:

regsvr32.exe wuapi.dll
regsvr32.exe wups.dll
regsvr32.exe wuaueng.dll
regsvr32.exe wucltui.dll
regsvr32.exe msxml3.dll
net.exe start wuauserv

Restart the machine and try



If that doesn't help, check this log file for any clues or other error
messages:

%windir%\WindowsUpdate.log

(typically C:\Windows\WindowsUpdate.log)
