0x00000050 after power failure - not solved after repairt and no minidump written...

Hi everyone...
My time has come and my beloved computer is getting 0x00000050 errors
after a power failure.
It is very consistent, and a repair to the system has not solved the
problem (but a clean install has, which makes me believe it's a
software issue and not hardware related).

The most annoying thing however is that a minidump is not written to
the minidump directory. Since I can't get into windows I cannot be
sure if the option is set or not. I was able to edit the registery
using the "load hive" option from my fresh installation and setting
(what i think are) the relevant keys, but to no avail. I am not sure
if I did it correctly however, so if someone knows how it should be
done let me know.

Also, removing the memory/other hardware did nothing at all.
Please, if anyone can help on this I would really apreciate it, since
installing a new system would take days.

Thanks!
Ehud

"Stop 0x00000050 or PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA
This Stop message, also known as Stop 0x50, occurs when requested data is not found in memory. The system generates a fault, which indicates that invalid system memory has been referenced. This fault can occur as a result of a variety of error conditions, such as bugs in antivirus software, a corrupted NTFS volume, or faulty hardware (typically related to defective RAM, be it main memory, L2 RAM cache, or video RAM)." - http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechnol/winxppro/reskit/c28621675.mspx

Well, as far as I can tell it's not a hardware issue at all since a
new install is working just fine.
I think my best bet would be to try and enable the minidumps which are
for some reason not written.

Anyone knows why? I've checked the registry of the crashed system and
it seems the settings are alright (as far as i can tell it defines a
minidump to be written in the default location and the pagefile is on
the root drive)
