Hi,

Get a blue screen and above code with the folowing digits after it

(0x00190203, 0x81349100, 0xc0000102, 0x00000000)

PC is a dell so no OS disc available, anyone got any ideas as we cant get it
to start at all!

Your Dell probably only has one drive it it. Booting to Recovery Console
would be possible if you download the XP boot disks. Running 'CHKDSK /f'
will fix it if anything will. It's not too likely.

Thanks for the reply but my laptop (using it to write this) has no floppy
drive, neither does the Dell (dog)...

Get a USB Floppy; they are not expensive.

In the meantime, you can use pretty much any bootable XP CD to get to the
recovery console to run this command.

Copying all six expanded sets of files to the root of a CD would do just
fine. You would probably need to create six 'disk1', 'disk2', and so on
files, (with no extension)

If you extract the contents of the exe file there are 6 img files there. You
could make 6 boot cd disks. One for each image file.

Look for: How To Create a bootable CD to access the Recovery Console -
this 7Mb .iso will give you a bootable Recovery Console rather than
using the 6 floppy set above. Unzip and burn the .ISO file to disc. You
can boot the CD and run the Recovery Console.

No, sorry, you can't. But if you just need to run the recovery console,
you can use just about any bootable XP CD - borrow one. You aren't
installing, so it doesn't care about key mismatches.
