Zune

Dennis

I've already tried their # overseas, Windows XP,MS. etc. No help except a
large fee for help. So this is the problem

My Zune initially let me sync and download my music. Now after requesting a
download on my dial-up line taking about 2 hours, it downloads it but will
not run it. This message is that the file “zunesettuppkg-x86.exe is not a
valid Win 32 applicationâ€. So I contacted Zune again who said to download
Windows Installer Cleanup, then restart the computer. I did. Same problem.
So I then went to the WIC and I guess I may or may not have to choose from
the following but I’m not sure what to do. My system is Windows XP Service
Pack 2 , an e-machine with original equipment manufacturer software.

The popup window on Windows Installers says the following -

WINDOWS INSTALLER CLEANUP
Continuing further will make permanent changes to your system. You may need
to reinstall some or all applications of your system that used the Windows
Installer Technology to be installed. If you do not want to proceed, please
press the ‘Exit’ button now. Choosing ‘Remove’ will make the permanent
changes.

INSTALLED PRODUCTS :
This is followed by 53 “productsâ€, of which none are Zune or that show “a
valid Win32 applicationâ€, for example

“(All users) SFR [5.00.0000.0005]â€
“(All users) SHASTA [5.03.0000.0002]â€
THIS IS FOLLOWED BY 51 MORE PRODUCTS

Now none are highlighted but I can choose one, several or all of them.
But I don’t know which ones or what to do and I don’t want to be searching
for past CDs to reinstall a software or then end up with an endless problem.
Following this, are buttons to choose “SELECT ALL†or “CLEAR ALL†or
“REMOVE†or “EXITâ€

What should I do? I have to logoff now and go to my 2nd job. I've spent
hours and hours on this already. The Zune was a Christmas gift that now is
taking up too much time without resolving the issue.

Thank for your help.

Go here :

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...fc-5f56-4a38-b838-de776fd4138c&displaylang=en

and get the latest Installer update from MS. Does that solve your problem ?

If not, then regretfully your Zune file may be corrupt. It happens.

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=not+a+not+a+valid+Win32+application&btnG=Google+Search

...... will show you some links.

If you have an original CD on which the software came, use that instead of
the downloaded one.

Cheers,
Jerry
