Zipped files are just compressed files, which basically means they take up
less space then the uncompressed version, pretty much every PC has a zip
file on it somewhere, it's no big deal.
See your Norton documentation or contact their tech support for info on the
files.
They are likely already compressed when downloaded from Symantec's update
site, there is nothing you can do to prevent it. As I said you should
contact Norton tech support to find out if they're safe to delete, I don't
touch anything Norton with a ten foot pole.
