Zip files don't show in attachment dialog box

I've seen variations of this question here, but not exactly this. For some
reason, zip files do not show up in the dialog box when I click on the
attachment icon. The file type dropdown is set to All files (*.*). I could
swear that this just started happening recently, as I'm sure I've been able
to see zip files and attach them previously.

I can go into Windows explorer, copy and paste the zip file to get it
attached, but not from the dialog. As far as I know, the attached files get
to their destination with no problems.

I have WinXP Pro and Outlook03.

Ideas why? Did I unknowingly mess up some Outlook setting?

TIA,
Chuck

Are zip files being treated as folders? If yes, try:
regsvr32 /u zipfldr.dll

This tells XP not to treat *.zip files as folders.

To undo the above.

regsvr32 zipfldr.dll

/neo

PS - I don't notice this behavior because I have a 3rd party compression
program installed. (eg. WinZip or WinRar)
