I recently upgraded my home PC from 98 to 2000 Prof. After the upgrade I
could no longer see the CD-ROM drive in Windows Explorer. The device manager
has an error of code 19. I have tried to remove the device and reinstall but
still get the same error.
I have contacted my PC vendor and upgraded my system bios and removed the
drive again with still the code 19 error.
I have referenced the article
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;270008 and removed
the filters in the registry, did a uninstall of the device and still get code
19.
I also referenced the arcticle
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;295773 but do not
know how I perform the resolution to see if this resolves my problem.
How do I perform the following:
RESOLUTION
To work around this behavior, enable at least one COM port in the basic
input/output system (BIOS) so that the Serial.sys file can load properly
