Your current security settings do not allow this file to be downloaded.

I'm running XP Home, IE 6, SP 2, HP Pavilion, not on a network.

I have no idea how this happened, but all of a sudden I get a security alert
when I try to download files. I have tried to get .wav files from various
sites, and Microsoft stationery files at microsoft.com, but the Security
Alert window pops up with "Your current security settings do not allow this
file to be downloaded."

I'm using Norton's firewall, but it never stopped me from downloading
before, and I haven't changed its settings. I'm not using Windows firewall.

I've heard people have problems with SP2 -- does anybody have an answer?

Thanks.
Deirdre

You might want to try this. Go to Start -> Control Panel ->
Internet Options. On the Security page make sure that the
Internet zone is set to the default (medium) settings. While
you're there, see if any of the sites you can't download from are
listed in the Restricted sites.
