Yahoo Messenger

Everytime I log onto the internet, my Home Page
comes up in the middle, and a Yahoo screen comes up on
the right. If I don't log off of it, Yahoo messenger
will run because my daughter uses it, so I have to click
the red x, and then click "yes" on that annoying little
window that asks "are you sure you want to exit Yahoo
Messenger?" Yes, I'm sure! The only thing I use Yahoo
for is e-mail. Is there some way I can fix it so that
Yahoo doesn't run in the background? Maybe I should
explain that my computer is set up so that either my
daughter or I can log in access Windows XP without
putting in a password. If there's anyway to keep Yahoo
from running in the background without giving us each
different passwords to log into windows, I'd really
appreciate knowing how. Thanks to anyone who can help me
fix this as it's very annoying.

Thanks but I have the home page I want. I get yahoo
stuff to the right of my home page, or my mail, or
whatever else I bring up using the internet. Yahoo runs
to the right of anything and everything. Help!

do you and your daughter have separate logins or do you both use that same login name to the computer? If you both use the same login, then that's the problem. If you have different logins, then when installing yahoo messenger check to see if there is an option to "install for this user only / install for all users" and select the appropriate one.

.Yes, we both use the same login. Thank you very much
for your help. I'll check to see if I can do that.
