Yahoo messages download from server with outlook not running

Hi there, I am facing a serious problem with my boss because all his messages
from yahoo inbox was misteriously downloaded to his PC at home.
He travels a lot so he try to keep his messages inbox so he can retrieve
them using the webmail anywhere.

He left his computer on but outlook was not running. By touching in the
mouse the PC left the sleep mode and I put his password on the screen to use
his printer but never opened outlook.

Is there any technical explanation to what happened? How can I find out the
exactly date those messages were downloaded from the server to his PC at home?

Outlook may still be running especially if your boss uses synchronization
software with his PDA and left it docked. Have him C+A+D to see if any
instance if outlook.exe is running after he shuts down Outlook.
