XPH and 87SE can't see each other?

Hi all,

I have two machines on the same hub, an XPH and
a 98SE machine. File/print sharing is on and they
are both on the same net mask with ip's respectively:
192.168.1.4 and 192.168.1.5. I can ping each other
and they are both on the same workgroup (EF).
Problem is when I try to browse the network, neither
computer can see each other (EF icon on XP or
network icon on 98SE). What am I missing?

thanks,
dave.....

When I try to do a repair on the network icon, this it
the following error message in XPH:

The following steps of the repair operation failed:

Purging and reloading the remote cache name table of NetBT.
Sending Name Release packets to WINS and then restarting Refresh.

Please contact your network administrator or ISP.

Is there anyway to fix this without doing a full reload
from scratch?

thanks,
dave.......

You're not running a WINS server.

Have you tried enabling NetBIOS over TCP/IP?
