Computers won't see each other

D

David

I have two computers, one running XP and the other running
98SE. I have an ethernet network with a hub and 2 cables. I
cannot get the XP computer to even acknowledge the other
computer's existence on the network. They are on the same
workgroup and have different names.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Greetings David,

Make sure the XP's firewall is disabled. If you installed a third party
firewall such as ZoneAlarm, Sygate, or Norton Internet Security make sure it
is properly configured for the local area network. Ensure NetBIOS over
TCP/IP is enabled on all machines. Details here.

Enable NetBIOS Over TCP/IP (NetBT)
