XPE stops boot process with USB Elo Touch Screen

Hello

I´m using XpE on an dt166 minipc system by dt research. This hardware
is based on an AMD Geode LX-800 (500 MHz) processor. Furthermore i use
a touchscree by elo connected via USB to the mini pc. When the
touchscreen is connected to the pc the XPE startup sequence stops. I
see the XPE splash screen with the progress bar running, but the xpe
doesn´t boot further. When I disconnect the USB connection to the
tousch screen and reconnect the boot process continues immediately.
The XPE boots and everything works fine.

The same touchscreen with the same drivers is running on a celeron
based properly. So I suppose the reason is maybe related to the
combination of Elo touchscreen and geode processor.

Has anybody a useful idea how to manage this problem?

Thanks a lot

chris

Hello again

i´ve found more details about my problem. The reason fo the boot
problem is caused by a device detection problem. When the touchscreen
is connected during startup it can´t be detected by the system. So far
I see the enumeration process fails somehow.
When I boot the same image but only without the USB-Boot support from
the internal flash everything works fine. So it looks like the USB
Boot component is responsible for the device detection problems.
Does anybody have an idea what happens and how to solve it?

Thanks
chris

Hello,

Could you attach to your post the log files from your XPE. This could be
helpfull to identify the reason of this boot failure.
windows\setupapi.log

Having similar issue

I have a similar issue with WES 2009. Dell Optiplex 780 (intel dual core).

about on out of ten times it will stop when booting up. I have narrowed it down to the Elo Tocuchscreen. If i unplug it will always boot fine. If i remove every other connection, and leave the USB to the touchscreen i have problems.

This is being used in a Kiosk so I really need it to reboot everytime when there is a power loose.

Did you fix your problem?

thanks!
