XP won't shut down, because of error messages e.g. Explorer.exe no

I opened XP and then outlook, printed 1 page of an Acrobat document, closed
outlook and acrobat, went to shut down XP and a warning message came up ' End
Program - Explorer.exe
This program is not responding
and then accepted that and got the same message about Connection Tray,
accepted that message and then got non responsive Explorer.exe.
For months I have had this problem whenever I go to shut down XP.
I tried reinstalling XP, but the problem soon came back
Thanks
John

Have you checked your System & Application Event logs ?

Also, are you using the latest Adobe Reader (7.0.5) ? and finally
is your Office instance fully updated ? Office has an equivalent
to Microsoft/Windows Update. Update. (office.Microsoft.com)
and click the "Check for Updates" link on the Right side of the
page.

Is the system free of Spyware/Malware ?
There are just too many things that can factor into a "Frozen or
Halted" application to give you a precise guide.

If the problem "soon comes back", then it's most likely due to a
specific background application you install. I'd say it's nothing to do
with acrabat.
