XP won't load

XP will get to the logon sceen, allow you to enter the
password, it then say loading personal setting, flick to
the desktop and fliks back to the welcome screen tell you
that it is logging off and saving user settings. it then
just remains at the welcome screen asking for the password
again.

Any ideas?

Do you have more than one user account that you can try to login to? If not, try logging on as Administrator. If you have the new XP login interface, hit ctrl-alt-del twice to get to the old fashion login screen. You may have a corrupted profile.
