XP won't let me delete .AVI files

I created .AVI files with Pinnacle Studio 8 and their
hardware breakout box from VCR tape videos. The .AVI files
cannot be played by Studio, Windows Media, or Real One.
Each time I access the files in Windows Explorer I get an
error report message about "qdv.dll" Mod Ver 6.5.1.900
offset 000068ef with Windows NT 51 Build 2600. I keep
sending the error report to Microsoft, but never receive a
fix. I want to purge these bad files from my hard drive. I
have about 20 of them and each one is sized at 72KB.

I've seen this before with other mpeg and avi files. In
my attempts to correct the problem I even did a format of
my system disk and a reinstall of xp but the avi's (on
another drive) would not go.

The answer was that media player had crashed when trying
to play them and had left a kind of lock on the files.

Load media player, do file open, and then using that
dialog box highlight the files you don't want and press
delete (its a mini explorer. Because medi player owns
the lock, it should be able to delete them.

Hope it helps. It worked for me.

Thanks, Andrew, I tried all three programs: Real One,
Media Player, and Studio 8. All tree programs report a
problem to Microsoft. With the Real One error, Microsoft
report says to report the problem to Real One. However,
the problem also exists with the MS Media Player, too.

These .AVI files are corrupt. All I want to do is delete
them any way I can to get rid of them.

Need Help, please....
