XP+winME on same HDD ? how to set up winME ?

At the moment I have an 80 gig Hard Drive , split into 2 partitions.

C=60gig - partition 1 - currently running 'xp pro'
D=20gig - partition 2 - with the winME setup folders on it.

I have Windows XP Pro installed, on C, ( i repartitioned my 80 gig hard
drive into the 60/20 yesterday ) , and i have put windowsME on the 2nd
partition, NOT Installed, just the actual folders etc. with Setup.exe etc..

If I run the setup.exe file, I get the message that Operating System I am
trying to install (winME) , is OLDER than my current 1 (xp pro ), which
then just stops the setup ??
I think i have to do something with the BOOT.INI file ?? , but HOW WOULD I
INSTALL MY winME on this 2nd Psrtition, or do i need to start from scratch..
in stall winME on the C - partition , and xp on the 2nd partition (D) ?

HOW, ALSO, Do I get my PC to ask me which O/S I want to Use at Boot-Up ?

I would appreciate any Help on this, or any helpful URL's etc.. I have tried
googling etc. but i kinda get to a point that is out of my league when it
comes to pc's as i have only had 1 for 2 years. Thanks a lot .

To have a successfull dual boot system you must install the older operating
system first.

That means start over. Reformat the XP partition, install ME wherever you
want, then install XP. You should be able to select the D: drive when ME is
being installed and then opt to install XP on C: with no problems.
