XP vs Nvida vs Games

Martin

Hi there.

I'm running Win XP home with a 128mg Nvida GeForce4 with
512 DDR ram and a 2 ghz processor. My problem? Well, when
I am playing Empire Earth or Ceaser 3, it runs fine for a
while and then it just crashes. The screen goes black as
the computer reboots. I don't do anything to the computer
or game while I'm playing and I even disconnect the anti-
virus software and the screen saver and still it crashes.
I've sent to MS, error message after error message after
every time its happened but no joy there.

Can anyone tell me what the heck is going on or how i
could correct it?

Drop me a line.
Thanks
Martin

What drivers are you running on the graphics card, Martin? What else do you
have running in the background, like anti-virus or any third-party
firewalls?

my computer/properties/advanced/start up and recovery/
settings/ **uncheck the "automatically restart"

then you will see the bluescreen and error_code message
Write it all down (only 3-4 lines) and post it here,
or look it up with google or in advanced google group search.

Usually this is a software driver problem (mis-behaving)
or in rare cases...hit a section of bad ram.

Other possiblities:

Update motherboard chipset drivers

Power supply does not provide enough power during the game(s). Try a 350
watts or greater power supply.

System overheats during the game: Check all CPU/Video/power supply/case
fans and replace any failed fans. You may want to add fans also. Front
fans should draw air into PC case and rear fans should blow air out.

Install updated drivers for video card.

Install all/any patches for the games.

If PC is over-clocked, return it to its regular clock speed. Some older
games do not like OCed systems.
