Im sure that we have read our fair share of online guides on how to make windows faster through little tweaks here and there.
But does anyone know if any of these tweaks actually work? or if they bring up reasonable speed increases?

does anyone know of any that work?

A few of these "tweaks" can prove detrimental and a lot are considered old wives tales from the days of Win98

The only real way to make any OS "go faster" is to install a faster CPU ... turning off a few unneeded services will help free some ram up and give the appearance of being quicker.

The RAM sweet spot for XP is 1.5Gb, in my opinion & that of others, so we use 2x1Gb sticks, that then keeps our "dual channel" MBs tickin over nicely.

XP really is very good at what it does, all by itself. ;)
