Does any-one know if there will be an excellent follow up to the trouble
shooting windows xp ,tweaks and tips for windows vista?
in the meantime is there a way to get rid of all the past items in the
notification area?

Right-click on Taskbar. Goto Start Menu Tab.
See where it says "Privacy"
Uncheck..
Store and display a list of recently opened files.

Click Start, type Regedit.exe and press Enter
Navigate to:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\Local Settings\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\TrayNotify

Backup the key by exporting it to a REG file
In the right-pane, delete the following values:

1. IconStreams
2. PastIconsStream

Close Regedit.exe
Logoff and login back.

I don't know what Kelly Theriot is planning. I haven't seen here in
windowsxp.general for some time now. She might be cooking up something.
