MY Windows XP professional machine once I put my password, taking a long time to get into the desk top. at least 2 minutes, I removed everything from my startu, and still the same. I can see the hour glass on the screen for a long time then the desk top comup. I time it last time it was 2minuts after I put my password.

Are you logging into a domain? If so the XP box needs to be configured to
use the DNS server containing the domain SRV records and NOT an ISP DNS
server.
