XP startup programs

I want to know how to disable startup programs on Windows
Xp. I tried the whole Snap-in Group Profiles thing and it
didn't work. If anyone can help e-mail me at

Start/Run
type "msconfig"
click on the startup tab
disable what you wish
click apply
click ok
restart the system.
