How do you disable startup programs

I just upgraded to XP and loaded a couple of programs that
load at startup and put icon in task bar. I don't need
them to load at statup and besides they eat up RAM. How do
you disable them or remove so they don't load at startup.

Right click the icons in the Notification Area (taskbar) and look
for an option to not start at boot, when windows starts, etc.

I tried that but one of the programs doesn't give that

But thanks for the help

Look for an option in the programs setup to not start at boot. If there is
no option, go to Start>Run, type "msconfig" (no quotes) and go to the
"startup" tab. Uncheck the programs you do not want. At re-boot, you will be
presented with a dialogue box that tells you the system has been changed.
There is a check box on it that says something to the effect of, "Don't show
this again", check it and go about your business as usual.

Try this then:
Start | Run | Type: msconfig | OK |
Startup tab | UNCHeck it from there
