xp sp2 printer problem

Hi all, after I downloaded and Installed the XP SP2, my
entire computer setting was out of whack, I no longer can
see the taps showing which program I have running.

But the biggest problem I have is my printer is no long
functioning, I tried the Add Printer routine, but the
error message is Printer Spooler not runing. And i even
tried to reinstall the printer (HP 1700) the error
message is Setup Encountered a Severe Problem, must
restart.. of course restarting did no good at all.

What can I do? is anyone else having similar problems?

dave,
you can also check the printing and faxing section maybe a
solution there.
first off, try to uninstall any hp software loaded. next
unplug the printer, and turn printer off. reboot the
machine, verify that the printer is no where to be found.
reinstall software and connect printer when told to by
software.

second use your restore point created by sp2 and go back
one step and see if that fixes your problem. good luck
