XP SP2 Install Problems

I've tried many times to install the SP2 upgrade. Everything seems fine until
I am directed to restart the computer. The computer never restarts correctly,
I have to go into Safe Mode then restore to a prior time. Any ideas on how to
successfully install SP2 ?

Once SP2 is installed,do not restart pc,go to run,type:cmd In cmd type:
CLEANMGR Run diskclean up,after typeefrag C: Once thru,type:CHKDSK C: /F
Agree to restart,type:EXIT Restart pc.
